COLLEGIATE, a. 1. Pertaining to a college; as collegiate studies.2. Containing a college; instituted after the manner of a college; as a collegiate society.3. A collegiate church is one that has no bishops see; but has the ancient retinue of a bishop, canons and prebends. Of these some are of royal, others of ecclesiastical foundation; and each is regulated, in matters of divine service, as a cathedral.
