1. That does or may excite horror; dreadful; hideous; shocking; as a horrid spectacle or sight; horrid sympathy.2. Rough; rugged. This is the literal and primary sense. Horrid with fern, and intricate with thorn.3. Shocking; very offensive; a colloquial sense.
